Where did September go?
It feels like I was only just commenting on how autumn was on its way and now it’s here, with all its drizzle and mulch and frost encroaching on the window. I’ve spent most of the month unwell, again, irritatingly, and haven’t really done much aside from work as much as I was able to, and sleep with Mavis wrapped around my neck like a scarf, as though she thinks if I just get warmed up a little I’ll get better. Being suffocated by an overly affectionate cat isn’t a horrible way to go, I suppose.
I feel like I’ve rusted up a bit and, honestly, I feel quite sad because it’s felt like my entire September has just consisted of nothing. I wasn’t well enough to swim and too tired to read, or write, or do anything but eat, shower, and sleep… and yet I feel as burnt out as I always do because of work this time of year.
Still… come Friday, it’s time for our usual mini-break away at the cabin, so I’ve got books lined up and tea ordered and writing to finish up. It always feels like giving my brain a bit of a dust. Away from home, disconnected a bit, and nothing to do but read, write, drink tea, eat well, and perhaps venture out once or twice to have a wander around a farm shop or the halls… and perhaps a half-decent garden center so I can find a little Lemax figure for our upcoming Christmas scene. Maybe I’ll be even luckier and find a Halloween set to kick off a second collection.
Or… better yet… car boots.
God, I love a car boot sale.
Anyway, toodles for now. I’m sure I will wander back this way next week, hopefully with some pictures of new knickknacks to decorate my office with.
If I perchance find a clown to take home or a dusty old Christmas decoration I can work on restoring I’ll be a happy gal indeed.
